Just Dance!

Deep House Mixes

In the early 2000s, as the endless horrors of the AIDS pandemic finally retreated I took my grief to the dance floor...and weekend after weekend I let the DJs take me on journeys of nocturnal joy. The music lifted me up, and I danced until I forgot.

A friend gave me some pirated mixing software, and I began to make my own CD-length mixes. My idea was to create a theme with each mix, a 74-minute deep house journey into "fire," "rain," "joy," and so forth.

Tonne Serah ("serotonin" backwards) was a pseudonym I used for my klubbing persona and the trashy murder mystery I wrote set in the SF klub scene. (Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone.)

Here are four of the nine mixes I made before my software expired, and I moved on to the next phase of my life. Click on the covers to listen.
